I’m trimming my apple trees today and already have a blister on two places on my hand. Should have used gloves. Anyway, the branches are loaded with apples, and there is enough for all..
The deer come in from the meadow lands and eat them in the wee morning hours. The neighbor comes by and “sneaks” them off the tree. He sees me watching him and he looks guilty. I smile and wave as I drive by on my way out. He still looks guilty. Geeze, he can have barrels of apples, because the trees are loaded, actually over loaded and need to be pruned back. I smile again and drive off. I kind-of like it he has this guilty look on his face, since he has no guts to simply ask and would rather “steel” them right out from under my nose. So, I guess I’ll let him feel “funny” about it. I don’t get it, but hey it’s a beautiful day and it simply is of no real concern. However, I’m playing golf later on and the blisters just might be a problem. humm…, maybe I need to wear two gloves for golf, today. We’ll see…
I now have three huge piles of limbs and the apples are still on the branches and I will leave them that way for a while, so the deer can come by and eat to their hearts content. It always reminds me of the famous French artist, Paul Ranson’s Apple Tree with Red Fruit Tapestry Art wall hanging, when I trim the branches overflowing with bright red apples. Both beautiful. Both charming. Both delicious, in their own way.
